Lake City volleyball rallies past Vikings

Halie Watson had 17 kills and six blocks as Lake City rallied to beat Coeur d’Alene in five sets in a 5A Region I volleyball match Tuesday at Lake City High School in Coeur d’Alene. Scores were 25-16, 23-25, 19-25, 25-22 and 15-10.

Kaity Widmyer had 22 assists and Kasey Widmyer added 21 digs for the Timberwolves, who will play Lewiston on Thursday in the title match with a state berth on the line.

Megan Ramseyer had 17 kills, 23 assists and six aces for the Vikings, who will play Post Falls in an elimination game on Thursday.

Lewiston def. Post Falls: Brett Hastings had 10 kills and Klaree Hobart added seven aces and seven digs as the Bengals swept the Trojans in a 5A Region I match in Lewiston. Scores were 25-23, 25-18 and 25-16. Brenna Meehan had 13 assists, nine kills and three blocks for Post Falls.

St. Maries def. Coeur d’Alene Charter: Taylor Gam had 12 digs and 11 assists as the Lumberjacks def. the Panthers in a 2A District I-II match in Moscow, Idaho. Scores were 25-12, 25-15 and 25-17. CDA Charter fell to Orofino earlier.

University def. Gonzaga Prep: Sydney Schlect had 14 kills and 16 digs as the Titans (6-1) stayed tied for first place in the Greater Spokane League with a win over the host Bullpups (4-3). Scores were 25-22, 27-25 and 25-19. Caitlin Scarpelli had 12 kills and Molly Steilin added 20 digs for Gonzaga Prep.

Mead def. North Central: Zuri Meehan had 15 assists and four aces as the Panthers (6-1) dumped the visiting Indians (0-7) 25-7, 25-12, 25-17 in a GSL match. Kristina Volz and Kellie Egan added five kills apiece for Mead.

Shadle Park def. Ferris: Amanda Konynenbelt had 17 digs, 12 assists and six kills as the Highlanders (6-1) swept the host Saxons (2-5). Scores were 25-18, 25-16 and 25-23.

Central Valley def. Rogers: Keann White had 12 kills and two blocks as the Bears (5-2) swept the visiting Pirates (1-6) in a GSL match. Scores were 25-12, 25-10 and 25-20. CV remains a game behind University, Mead and Shadle Park. They play Shadle Park on Thursday.

Cheney def. Clarkston: Ashley Seiler sent home a match-high 20 kills and the Blackhawks (7-3) held on to beat the visiting Bantams (5-5) in five sets. Scores were 24-26, 25-15, 21-25, 25-23 and 15-13.

Pullman def. Colville: Rachel Dinsmoor dished out 46 assists and the Greyhounds (7-3) rallied after dropping the first two sets to beat the host Indians (7-4) in a GNL match. Scores were 24-26, 22-25, 25-21, 25-16 and 19-17.

Deer Park def. West Valley: Sierra English had 23 kills, 16 digs and two blocks to guide the Stags (3-7) past the visiting Eagles (0-11). Scores were 25-12, 25-15 and 25-20. Zoey Mohr added 35 assists for Deer Park.

Slowpitch softball

North Central 11, Mead 8: The Indians’ used a five-run rally in the fourth inning and went on to beat the visiting Panthers (14-8) in a Greater Spokane League playoff game. North Central’s Hannah George hit a two-run home run in the first inning. The Indians (16-5) will play University in the championship game today.

University 11, Central Valley 6: Lacey Awbery drove in three runs and McKenzie Peterson added two RBIs and two runs as the Titans (21-0) topped the visiting Bears (12-10). Central Valley was led by Celeynna Cobbs, who went 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs.

Girls soccer

West Valley 12, Deer Park 3: The Eagles (13-2, 10-2) scored nine first-half goals and dumped the host Stags (3-12, 1-10) to clinch the Great Northern League title. Kiana Nagata scored four goals and Jenna Sullens tallied a first-half hat trick to lead West Valley.

Clarkston 3, Cheney 0: Leah Edens scored twice in the second half to guide the Bantams (10-4, 8-4) past the host Blackhawks (4-10, 3-8) in a GNL match. .

Pullman 4, Colville 1: Amelia Galloway scored in the fifth minute to set the tone in the Greyhounds’ (7-5, 6-5) GNL win over the host Indians (4-10, 3-8). Diana DeWald added a goal in the 39th minute. The Greyhounds’ Anne Marie Petrino and Maddi Cillay scored in the second half.
