Amend campaigns for good

Dana Milbank’s Oct. 10 opinion piece was right on the money. The U.S. Supreme Court’s decisions are changing our country into something our forefathers were trying to safeguard against. If this next decision goes the way it appears to be heading, there will be no restrictions on the amount of money directly contributed by individuals to candidates in elections.

This money buys the power to flood our airwaves with intentionally misleading and often torturous campaign ads. There is much documentation that backs up the conventional wisdom that correlates large (sometimes multimillion) dollar donations with resulting lucrative legislation that benefits the wealthy donor, business or entity contributing these considerable sums.

What can the average person do to check this court run amok? Fortunately, the forefathers provided tools to rebalance our democratic system. You can join the constitutional amendment process sweeping the country. The sooner you act, the sooner we will restore personhood to living beings and reject the nonsense that money is protected as free speech in the form of limitless media ads and campaign contributions.

Act now and Google Move To Amend and Spokane Moves to Amend the Constitution.
