Selisch guides Pirates

Sam Selisch scored twice in the second half to give the Whitworth men’s soccer team a 2-0 Northwest Conference win over Pacific on Friday in Forest Grove, Ore.

Selisch’s first goal came off an assist from David Starkovich in the 55th minute. He capped the scoring with his second goal in the 72nd minute.

The Pirates (9-3-2, 7-2-1), winners of four straight, held a commanding 29-4 advantage in shots.

Pacific fell to 6-9-1 overall and 1-8-1 in the NWC.

• Christian Roldan and Darwin Jones scored second-half goals to lead No. 3 Washington to a 2-0 Pac-12 Conference win over San Diego State (4-8-1, 1-4-1) in San Diego.

The Huskies (11-0-4, 4-0-2) held a 16-7 advantage in shots, including 8-1 in the second half.

Women’s soccer

Nicole Setterlund scored twice early in the second half and Washington State snapped a two-game skid with a 4-0 Pac-12 Conference win over Arizona (7-6-3, 2-5) in Tucson, Ariz.

Cara Wegner and Mesa Owsley also scored to give the Cougars (10-3-3, 3-3-1) four goals in a conference road match for the first time since 2002.

• Washington (7-6-3, 3-1-2) and Arizona State (8-6-1, 3-3-1) played to a scoreless draw in a Pac-12 Conference match in Tempe, Ariz.

• Taylor Bare and Emily Herndon scored second-half goals to give Missouri-Kansas City (9-7-1, 6-3) a 2-0 Western Athletic Conference win over Idaho (3-13, 3-6) in Kansas City, Mo.

• Eastern Washington (3-14, 1-7) had its chances but couldn’t convert in a 3-0 loss to Southern Utah (6-10-1, 3-4-1) in a Big Sky Conference match in Cheney.

• Whitworth (6-6-4, 3-5-4) and Pacific (7-5-3, 4-5-2) played to a scoreless draw in a Northwest Conference match in Forest Grove, Ore.

Pirates keeper Andrea Stump made four saves to post her sixth shutout of the season.

Volleyball

Samantha Bricio had 12 kills and 12 digs to guide No. 4 USC (18-2, 8-1) to a sweep of Washington State (15-7, 2-7) in a Pac-12 Conference match in Los Angeles. Scores were 25-18, 25-13 and 25-19.

Kate Sommer had 14 digs and Camryn Irwin dished out 16 assists for the Cougars, who lost their fourth straight.

• Krista Vansant had 16 kills and seven digs to guide Washington to a Pac-12 Conference win over UCLA in Los Angeles.

• Jalana White had 15 kills and Nicole Leonard added 12 kills and 19 digs as Whitworth (13-10, 7-4) swept George Fox (9-10, 4-7) in a Northwest Conference match in Spokane. Scores were 25-22, 25-23 and 25-20.

Maddye Dinsmore added 35 assists and 11 digs for the Pirates.

Wrestling

Great Falls edged North Idaho 22-21 in a dual in Coeur d’Alene. Both teams won five of the 10 individual matches.

Carlos Lazoya (133 pounds), Jeremy Golding (149), Nicholas Moreno (165) Johnathen Dennis (174), V.J. Giulio (197) all won their matches for NIC.
