It’s all downhill from here: Fred Ruetsch and his grandchildren Dallas and Lilly Brannon prepare for the start of Saturday’s 3rd Annual Great Pumpkin Race on the 1600 block of Madison Street in Spokane. Some 60 entries raced downhill one block to benefit Mid-City Concerns Meals on Wheels Spokane. The pumpkins had to be on wheels and be gravity-powered only. Meals on Wheels Executive Director Mollie Dalpae said the event raised $1,000. (Dan Pelle)
