Hunting accident seriously wounds boy, 12

Police say a 12-year-old Pullman boy was shot and seriously injured Saturday during a hunting trip in southwest Whitman County. The boy was taken by private vehicle to Whitman Community Hospital in Colfax, then transported to Providence Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane. His injury was not life-threatening, the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office said. The boy was hunting with members of his family when he was accidentally struck by a bullet around 8 a.m., police said. The Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife is leading the investigation.
