Obituary: Jackman, Anna Lea (Widman)

JACKMAN, Anna Lea (Widman) (Age 90) Was born in Rosalia, WA in 1923.

She completed this life’s journey on October 22, 2013 at the age of 90.

Ann attended school in Rosalia before entering Washington State College in Pullman.

After 2 1/2 years, she transferred to Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Spokane; graduating as an RN in 1945.

One year earlier, she had married George M. Jackman of Spokane.

They settled in Albion, WA when his military career ended.

In addition to raising three children and pursuing her nursing career, Ann helped her husband operate a dairy farm, a community store, and manage rental property.

Their family was active in Albion’s United Protestant Church, and enjoyed traveling and lake vacations.

Once their children were grown, Mr. and Mrs. Jackman volunteered with the Layman’s Association for Overseas Service; spending the winter of 1968-69 in Central America.

His carpentry skills, combined with her nursing expertise, made them a valuable team.

Upon returning from Central America, they settled in western Florida where their legacy of service continued for 35 years.

In later years, Mr. and Mrs. Jackman enjoyed summering at Coeur d’Alene Lake and wintering in Florida.

Good Samaritan Society and Colonial Court in Spokane Valley became Ann’s final residences where she greatly appreciated the care and friendship offered.

She is survived by her son; Dave Jackman (Brigitte) of Spokane, WA.

Daughters; JoAnn Evers (Ron) of Norfolk, VA and Lynn Schwendiman (Dee) of Valleyford, WA.

Sister; Marian Jackson (John) of Olympia, WA, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband George and brothers; George, Edgar, Joe and Dave Widman.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the IOOF Evergreen Cemetery in Rosalia followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at the Rosalia United Methodist Church.

A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.
