Obituary: Gillingham, Maxine Elizabeth (Strite)

Age 95

GILLINGHAM, Maxine Elizabeth (Strite) (Age 95) December 30, 1917-October 28, 2013 Maxine was born in Joseph, OR to Merle Strite and Ethel Cox Strite Jacko.

She lived in the Spokane Valley for seventy-seven years.

She was a registered nurse, graduating from St. Lukes School of Nursing.

She met and married her loving husband R. Carl Gillingham, with whom they welcomed their son, Larry; and daughters, Janice and Joyce.

Maxine was also a business owner of rental properties, and a homemaker.

Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, rock hounding, and camping.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, and her sister, Muriel Johnson.

She is survived by her children, Larry A.

(Dorothy) Gillingham, Janice Gillingham Prewitt (Travis Prewitt), and Joyce Gillingham Powell (Lee Powell); granddaughters, Spring (Adam) Faussett, and Holly (Josh) Valley; grandson, Brendan Purvis; great granddaughters: Myra Purvis, and Alana Valley; and multiple nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, November 1st in the Hazen and Jaeger Valley Colonial Chapel, 1306 N. Pines Road, Spokane Valley, WA; with a graveside service following at 2:00pm at Pines Cemetery, 1402 S. Pines Road, Spokane Valley.

Maxine had many pets, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to S.C.R.A.P.S.
