Post Falls boat ramp to close for season Nov. 4

From staff reports
The boat ramp at Q’emlin Park in Post Falls will close for the season Monday, Avista Utilities said in a news release. The ramp, which is up the Spokane River from the Post Falls Dam, is closed each fall because of lower water levels, Avista said. Increased dam flow often causes the water levels in the Spokane River and Lake Coeur d’Alene to fall up to five feet below summer high-water periods during the winter months. Avista announced a closure of the ramp in June after heavy rains swelled the Spokane River, forcing an opening of the Post Falls Dam spill gates. The ramp reopened a week later. Weather conditions will determine when the ramp reopens for the season, Avista said. Boating typically resumes in late spring or early summer. Those with questions are asked to call an Avista hotline. The phone number for Idaho residents is (208) 769-1357; for those in Washington, (509) 495-8043.
