Obituary: Matzinger, Anna Caroline

Age 93

MATZINGER, Anna Caroline Left us Sunday, August 25, 2013 just shy of her 94th birthday.

She was generous to others, had a homespun sense of humor and always true to her Christian Faith.

Anna was born to Blanche and Albert Wirth in Henry County, Ohio on October 5, 1919.

Albert, a farmer, died at the age of 39 at the outset of the Great Depression.

She and siblings were sent to live with relatives, dealing with the hardships of the l930’s.

Anna married Virgil Knapp at age17, divorcing shortly thereafter.

She married Walter Matzinger in l954, living in and near Toledo, Ohio until his death in l965.

Anna was also preceded in death by her mother, Blanche, brother, Harold Wirth, a sister, Alberta Tipton.

She is survived by her son, Ron Knapp and his wife, Janet, a sister, Eileen Hamilton and several nieces and nephews.

Anna moved to Newport, WA in 2004 to be near her son.

She was often seen walking her small black dog around her neighborhood, enjoying and visiting others as she did so.

She will be missed by all those who had known her.
