Odom Corp. plans warehouse

Odom Corp. has begun plans to build a 200,000-square-foot distribution warehouse near its current West Plains building, at 4122 S. Grove Road.

The Bellevue- headquartered company distributes beer, wine and softdrinks across the Northwest.

The estimated cost for the expanded warehouse is around $20 million, said Jerry Dexter, the company’s senior vice president for supply chain management.

Dexter said the goal is to open the new warehouse around May 2014. The Design Group, out of Boston, is managing the project. No general contractor has been selected yet, Dexter said.

CDA engineer firm opens office

Trindera Engineering is taking 3,000 square feet of space in a new downtown Spokane office at 221 W. Main Ave. The firm has been based in Kootenai County for 10 years.

The firm’s expansion to Spokane is due to growth in project work in Eastern Washington, a company spokesman said.

Trindera’s primary focus is providing electrical and control engineering design and services.

Mel’s goes from nursery to gifts

Mel’s Nursery, at 8800 N. Division St., will close its doors at the end of September, then reopen a new store at 12501 N. Division, owner Sue Nimmer Shaw said.

After operating for more than four decades, Shaw said she originally agreed to sell the existing nursery building to Wendle Motors and then retire. But response by customers helped change her mind and she decided to open a new shop, she said in an email.

Shaw said the new store will open during the first two weeks of October in the Wandermere shopping center.

Pho City opens downtown

Pho City, a Vietnamese restaurant, has opened at 112 N. Howard St. in downtown Spokane in a space last used by Santorini’s Greek Cuisine.

The owners are Helen Nguyen and her brother, Tim Nguyen. The business will serve lunch and dinner six days a week.
