Final-game loss leaves Indians’ record even

EVERETT – Five hundred. With a decimal. That’s how the Spokane Indians’ Northwest League baseball season wound up – .500 on the road (19-19), .500 at home (19-19), .500 overall (38-38) – after a 9-3 defeat to the playoff-bound Everett AquaSox in a regular-season finale on Monday afternoon at Memorial Stadium. Spokane, eliminated from the NWL playoff picture on Sunday, spotted Everett a 4-0 lead through five innings before scrambling back with two runs in the sixth and another in the top of the seventh. But the AquaSox, who won both the first-and second-half North Division titles, erupted for five runs in the bottom of the seventh to wrap it up. Jordan Akins and Janluis Castro singled in runs for the Indians in the sixth and Ryan Cordell’s 12th double produced the seventh-inning run. Phillips Castillo’s sixth homer was a two-run shot in the fifth for Everett.
