Eastern sweeps Seattle

Five players had at least five kills, led by sophomore Allie Schumacher with 10, as Eastern Washington (2-2) had its best offensive peformance of the young season in a 25-18, 25-22, 25-21 nonconference volleyball sweep at Seattle (2-2) on Monday.

Juniors Talia Fermantez and Melissa Waelter added seven kills apiece while classmate Kelsey Julian and sophomore Allison Doerpinghaus each contributed five. Freshman Sophie Miller had a season-high 17 assists and sophomore Ryann Ensrud 14 digs.

Women’s soccer

Tiara Pajimola scored twice within 11 minutes in the second half to give Whitworth (3-0) a 2-1, come-from-behind, nonconference victory over Carroll (Wis.) University (0-2) at the Whitworth Soccer Field.
