Chiefs reassign six players to home clubs

The Spokane Chiefs have assigned six players back to their home clubs as they prepare for their second preseason tournament of the season this weekend in Kennewick. The team is now carrying 30 players, including three goaltenders, 16 forwards and 11 defensemen.

Jeff Faith, Taylor Ross and Jake Toporowski – all 15-year-olds – were reassigned. Faith and Ross both return to Notre Dame Bantam AAA (Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League) while Toporowski returns to Chicago Mission (High Performance Hockey League). Sixteen-year-old rookies Jordan Henderson (Vancouver NE Chiefs Midget, British Columbia Midget Hockey League) and Curtis Miske (Leduc Midget AAA, Alberta Midget Hockey League), as well as 17-year-old goalie Trevor Martin (assignment pending) were also reassigned.

Two 1997-born players remain on the squad, including defenseman Evan Fiala and goaltender Tyson Verhelst.

Spokane native Keanu Yamamoto, who registered a team-high four points (all assists) in Everett, also remains with the club.

The Chiefs head to the Toyota Center in Kennewick for two games in a preseason tourney hosted by Tri-City. Spokane faces Kootenay on Friday at 3 p.m. and Tri-City on Saturday at 7 p.m.
