M’s call up six from Tacoma

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Seattle Mariners reached out for six players from Triple-A Tacoma, including right-hander Erasmo Ramirez, who started Tuesday’s game against the Royals.

The M’s also recalled right-handers Chance Ruffin and Hector Noesi, lefty James Paxton and infielder Carlos Triunfel.

Triple-A hitting coach Howard Johnson was added to Seattle’s staff for September.

M’s manager Eric Wedge said Paxton, who was 8-11 with a 4.45 ERA at Tacoma, will join a six-man rotation the rest of the season. Right-hander Taijuan Walker, who starts against the Royals today, will likely get one more start after that before hitting his innings limit. Wedge said Brandon Maurer will take Walker’s spot in the rotation when that happens.
