He was born in Wilbur, Washington, April 14, 1927 to Herbert and Stella Rettkowski (Payne).
After graduating from high school he enlisted in the Navy to fight in World War II, during this time he met and married Mary Elaine McMaster of Harrington Washington.
After the war he worked at Boeing plant in the Seattle area as a plant electrician.
After leaving Boeing he returned to Wilbur where he found employment with Grand Coulee Dam, Lincoln Mutual, and Almira Farmers.
In 1965 he took over the operation of the family farm in Wilbur and continued to work at Grand Coulee Dam as an electrician until retiring in 1989.
He was an active member and twice past Master of Almira Masonic Lodge #127.
He was 33rd degree Mason member of the Scottish Rite.
He was also a life member of the El Katif Shrine.
As a member and past president of the Spokane Valley Shrine, he was part of The Banditos and rode in several parades.
He was past commander of the VFW Post in Wilbur Washington.
Allen enjoyed hunting and fishing making several trips over the years to Homer Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and first wife, Elaine, the mother of his children.
He survived by his present wife, Marie; his children, Diana (Don) Clauser, Dwight (Linda) Rettkowski, Dennis (Tammy) Rettkowski, and Denice (Bill) Green; and 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 5 step children; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be no service at Allen’s request.
