Obituary: Larson, Virginia Peschel

Age 89

LARSON, Virginia Peschel (Age 89) Virginia Peschel Larson, age 89, died peacefully September 3, 2013 at Sacred Heart Medical Center after a brief illness.

Ginny was born October 31, 1923 in Breckenridge, Minnesota.

She graduated from the University Of North Dakota with a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.

She worked as a registered dietitian in Chicago, Illinois where she met her husband William N. Larson.

They were married in Chicago on July 26, 1952.

They moved to Spokane, Washington where they raised their four children: William, Catherine, Robert, and James.

Ginny loved playing bridge with her close friends, sewing for her family and playing the piano.

Her greatest source of joy was being with her children, grandchildren, and most recently, her great-grandchild.

Grandma Ginny, or GG, as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, will be remembered by wonderful neighbors on Magnolia street (where cocktail hour included many great friends on cool summer evenings), and by the Touchmark (Waterford) Community, where she continued to hone her social skills.

Her family will especially miss the anticipation of receiving a specially-written poem for birthdays and special events.

Even though her kids and grandkids are scattered throughout the country, they loved to call her because she was truly interested in their daily lives.

She was very proud of her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William and her brother, Ray Peschel.

She is survived by her sister Mary Vick, her children, her five grandchildren, and her great-grandson.

Ginny suffered from macular degeneration, severely limiting her ability to see.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Macular Degeneration Foundation (www.eyesight.org).

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 11 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Parish.
