Wanted Seattle woman accidentally shot by police

Associated Press

SEATTLE – A Seattle police official said an officer who accidentally shot a 19-year-old woman in the leg is on paid leave while the shooting is investigated.

Assistant Police Chief Paul McDonagh told reporters that, in his words, “any discharge of a weapon is very, very serious to us.”

Police said the unarmed woman suffered a wound Wednesday night that was not considered life-threatening. She was wanted on felony warrants.

The 29-year-old officer was not identified.
