(Age 78) Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Wilma Bailey, 78, passed away August 17, 2013, in Mesa, AZ following a battle with colon cancer.
Wilma Irene Rupnow was born on August 30, 1934 to Paul and Mabel Rupnow in Riordan, WA.
She graduated Riordan High School in 1951 and shortly afterwards met and married Clifford Dirks, a wheat farmer in Lind, WA.
The couple had four children on the farm before first moving to Sandpoint, ID, and then to California.
Wilma worked as an office manager for San Jose Water Works until she and Cliff moved back to Sandpoint, where he passed away in 1981.
She owned and operated two small businesses as well as managing the Horizon Federal Credit Union.
Wilma met Terry Bailey in 1982 and the couple married on Valentine’s Day, 1984.
They lived at various times in Stockton, CA; Portland, OR; Boise, ID; Lewiston, ID; until settling in Gilbert, AZ, where she retired in 2004.
Throughout her entire life, Wilma was known for her warm and loving heart as well as her infectious laugh.
Strangers liked her, friends adored her, and her family cherished her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Dale, and sisters Ruby and Maxine.
She is survived by her husband Terry; her sister Neva Calkins; daughter Rene Dubois (and husband Jerry), son John Dirks (and wife Gaylynn), son Brad Dirks (and wife Amy), and daughter Traci Menard (and husband John).
She also dearly loved her grandchildren Kiley Fournier (and husband J. Paul Fournier), Bradley Dendy, and Halle Dirks, as well as great-grandchildren Wyatt Fournier and Caitlyn Fournier.
Wilma was cremated and her ashes will be spread in the beauty of North Idaho.
