Lorraine was born in Spokane, WA and resided in the family home for 70 years. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Albert O. Wagner and Edith M. Allen Wagner, step-mother Esther Campbell Wagner of Sequim, WA. and her husband Robert A. Barnes of Spokane, WA. After her mother passed away when she was only nine, Lorraine was raised by her aunts and uncles, while her father was serving in the Civilian Conservation Corps. Lorraine attended North Central High School, where she was an accomplished violinist in the orchestra and Bel Canto Ensemble; she graduated in 1938. Following her graduation from Kelsey-Baird Secretarial School, she was employed at Spokane Linen Supply until she met and married Robert A. “Bob” Barnes. They worked together as freight and mail contractors while Bob was employed with Northern Pacific Railroad. They enjoyed travels to the Orient, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, The Caribbean, South and Central Americas, Mexico, Canada and throughout the United States. Lorraine’s appreciation of nature was through gardening, birding, wildlife and preservation of produce. She was a loving wife and mother. A homemaker with a strong work ethic, living through the war years taught her how to live a conservative lifestyle. The Seattle Mariners have lost a devoted fan!
