Obituary: Azar, Najeeb

AZAR, Pastor Najeeb Left us on 9/06/13 to be with Jesus Christ and his wife of 50 years, Najla Azar, to be in heaven.

He served The Lord as a Christian pastor in the Middle East for 32 years.

In 2006, Najeeb wrote and published “Listening to Jesus” an autobiography which chronicled his life in the Middle East.

Najeeb and Najla came to the US in 1973 with their 4 children.

They worked hard to achieve the American dream.

In 1977, Najeeb and Najla purchased a 7-Eleven franchise.

The franchise was successful and ultimately, Najeeb and Najla retired from 7-Eleven in 2000 after 23 years.

In 1980, the Azar’s opened the Azar’s Cafe, which eventually sprouted into other restaurants and convenience stores that were owned and operated by their children.

Najeeb was survived by his children, Victor, Viola, Katy, and Sam.

Najeeb was survived by 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Najeeb was looked up to and respected as a man of god, father, grandfather, and business leader.

He loved life and always gave a smile and a riddle.

Viewing will be from 12-2 pm on Wednesday, September 11 at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division.

A Funeral Service will follow at 2 pm on Wednesday, September 11.

Interment will be after the funeral service at Greenwood Memorial Terrace, 211 N. Government Way.
