Obituary: Murray, Robert Arnold
Age 71
after an almost three year battle with Multiple Myloma.
Robert “Bob” spent his final days between the hospital and his home in Davenport with his family and friends at his side.
He always maintained his positive outlook on life even when faced with the challenges of his cancer and other ailments.
Words fall short to describe the good feelings everyone had for Bob.
When you envision a great husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather you are imagining Bob Murray.
Bob was born on July 9th 1942 in Nampa, Idaho.
He was the third of three children and easily the most charming from birth.
The family eventually moved to Moses Lake where Bob grew up and graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1960.
He went on to apprentice with the local power company and then work for the Public Utility Districts as a journeyman lineman in Grant, Ferry and Okanogan Counties for a combined 36 years of service.
After retiring about 10 years ago, Bob and his wife Jenny moved to Davenport to be close to work friends, family, the great fishing and outdoor recreation.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Clair and Orvetta Murray and his older brother Larry Murray.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Geneva Murray of some 35 years, his wonderful sister Peggy Baker, his sons and step sons Doug Murray, Craig Murray, Jim Johnson, Dave and Rebeca Johnson and Joe and Cricket Sandbacken, and 21 loving grandchildren, six great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Bob was truly one of the great people you get to meet in this life.
You immediately know your life is better for knowing him.
He will be missed beyond words and to have to reduce him to a few paragraphs just does not do him justice.
Bob enjoyed being with his friends and family, spending time in his shop, fishing, camping and spending time in the outdoors.
We want to express a special thanks to those who helped support and care for Bob, our family is truly grateful.
A special thanks to doctor Fred Reed for all he has done over these last three years with the help of Northwest Cancer Care.
A Celebration of Roberts life and Memorial Services will be held in the City of Davenport, at “Memorial Hall” 511 Park Street.
The Murray family invites all Bobs friends and loved ones to the celebration and honor the memory of Bob’s life September 14th, 2013 at 1:00PM and focus on the positive legacy Bob has left in all of us.
While it seems impossible to greet the passing of a loved one like Bob whom we all cared so much about with anything but sadness, we must muster the strength to join together in this period of grief and turn it into a time of celebration.
This gathering of friends and family will be a wonderful way to preserve Robert Murray’s wonderful spirit and memory.
In lieu of flowers, we suggest you make a donation to “Make A Wish Foundation” or a “local” cancer charity of your choice.
Bob would want us to pay it forward to someone else who needs the care he received.
