Possible record-setting heat in Washington

SEATTLE — The National Weather Service says a sunny, hot day Wednesday could set high temperature records in some places in Washington.

The high forecast for Sea-Tac Airport is 89 degrees. That would break the record of 87 set in 2009.

Highs in the 80s are forecast across Western Washington Wednesday and into the 90s along the lower Columbia River.

Highs in the lower 90s are forecast across Eastern Washington. The 90-degree forecast for Spokane Wednesday would fall just short of the record of 94 set in 1944.

The Weather Service says temperatures will ease over the weekend as clouds move into Western Washington, bringing a chance of showers by Sunday night when the Seahawks play San Francisco in Seattle.
