Obituary: Burrington, Ardis Ione (Smedstad)

Age 85

BURRINGTON, Ardis Ione (Smedstad) Was born March 26, 1928 in Starbuck, Minnesota.

She went home to her Lord and Savior September 7, 2013 in Post Falls, Idaho after a brief illness.

Ardis was raised in the Lutheran Church and continued her unending love for the Lord as a member of Advent Lutheran Church (formerly Christ Lutheran Church) until her death.

She took great pride in her Norwegian heritage and hardworking Minnesotan upbringing.

She was the second of four daughters born to William and Gladys Smedstad.

She cherished the closeness of her family, considering her sisters her best friends.

Ardis met her husband of 62 years, Bruce Burrington, at the University of Minnesota.

He was a dental student and she was studying dental hygiene.

They later moved to Spokane where Dr. Burrington opened his dental practice and they raised their three children.

Ardis was a true child of God.

Her faith was evident in the thoughtful and prayerful way she lived her life as a daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother.

She loved music, reading, jig saw puzzles, card games - especially Bridge - and travel.

Her trips to Norway were especially meaningful.

Ardis was predeceased by her father William, mother Gladys, sister Olive Larson and sister Carol Kleckner.

She is survived by her husband Bruce Burrington, her children Jill Burrington-Brown (Keith) of Snohomish, WA, Scott Burrington of Spokane, Joel Burrington (Kindle) of Seattle, WA.

and Norwegian daughter Mona Rafn (Christian) of Lommedalen, Norway.

She also leaves four grandchildren: Laura Wyman (Scott) of Kirkland, WA, Gabrielle Brown of Snohomish, WA, Alex Burrington and Nathan Burrington of Spokane, her sister Ruth Parson (Michael) of Isle, MN, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 28 at 11 am at Advent Lutheran Church, Spokane Valley.
