Attend Constitution event

A mandate amended to the 2004 congressional spending bill, and still in effect, requires every school and college that receives federal money to teach about the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, the day the Constitution was adopted.

Esther Reed Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, would like to suggest that students be urged to attend their national award-winning costumed Constitution event to be held in Riverfront Park, near the Red Wagon, at 1 p.m., on Sept. 14. This nonpolitical event will provide a variety of relevant topics that could be explored and expanded in classroom activities at multiple grade levels on Sept. 17, thus fulfilling the federal mandate cited above.
