Face recognition video test at Kennewick arena

Associated Press
KENNEWICK — Face recognition technology will be tested at a hockey game next week at an arena in Kennewick. Researchers with the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory are testing the technology for the Department of Homeland Security at the home opener Sept. 21 for the Tri-Cities Americans at Toyota Center. The Tri-City Herald reports 20 volunteers will be the only people the cameras are trying to identify. Fans attending the game will be told how they can avoid the cameras if they want to opt out. The test will use off-the shelf video cameras to evaluate prototype software.
