Elks Lodge donates items to EV schools

The Greater Spokane Elks Lodge 228 recently delivered boxes of school supplies to schools for students who may be in need.

Principal Frank Brou of Trent Elementary School in the East Valley School District, secretary Merri Tate and counselor Carla Bagby recently accepted the donations from Exalted Ruler Jim Bedard of the Elks.

The Elks purchased $500 in school supplies, which were divided among Trent, the West Valley School District’s Ness Elementary School, Centennial Middle School and West Valley High School.

Lodge Secretary Phyllis Porter said she was surprised at the items students need for school today, such as flash drives and hand sanitizer.

“It was a fun project,” she said. “It was interesting.”

The project is done through the Elks National Foundation.
