Obituary: Altenburg, Douglas
Age 58
Doug was born in Ione, WA on October 19, 1954 to Arthur and Betty Altenburg.
He attended Audubon Elementary School and graduated from North Central High School in 1973.
He loved wrestling, starting in Junior High, and ending with arm-chair viewing.
He spent summer harvest months working on farms, where driving those big tractors was fun, and later described himself as a “car” guy.
He worked at Hanford as an apprentice ironworker, as well as at several local jobs including Central Pre-mix.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, Arthur.
He is survived by his son, Kyle Altenburg; stepson, Damon Coppinger; his mother, Betty Altenburg, all of Spokane WA; his sister, Carol (Karma) Phuntsok of Kyogle, Australia; nephew Karchung Phuntsok of Sydney, Australia; aunts: Eileen Carroll and Paula Altenburg; as well as several cousins.
His sense of humor and knack for making anything shine will live on in the memories of all his family and friends.
