(Full-size photo)

ECKHART, Ramona M. (Clark) (Age 81) On September 6, the most beautiful woman in the world passed away. How do you describe the beauty of a mother? The beauty and wonder of a best friend, a confidante, a lifelong companion and fierce defender of her children and her country, a generous and selfless soul, a wise sage, a miraculous fixer, a deep thinker, a person whose greatest joy would be lying on a grassy hillside next to you marveling at the night stars….and making you want to reach them…..who had read most things published in English, yet whose overall hero was Richard Feynman…who could speak at 80 years old of black holes and parallel universes, yet who loved to say…”That’s the way it goes…First your money, then your clothes” or “I’ll let you go about your evil ways”. Ramona M. Clark grew up in a poverty-stricken Peaceful Valley, Spokane, yet after graduating from Rogers High School became a beloved teacher of Spanish with a master’s degree from the University of Washington and was able to travel extensively. She championed the underdog and despised unfairness, was simple in tastes and down-to-earth as a person, part of the greatest generation of Americans. We loved her so much and will miss her terribly….we wanted to do so many more things together…only 81 years old, so funny, witty, so cute, with the most dazzling skin and gorgeous white hair, loved to go antiquing, collecting little things, being with her family, reminiscing the old days of hardship with intriguing stories of old Spokane’s neighborhoods. She often quoted her third grade teacher’s lesson: Life is real! Life is earnest! And the grave is not its goal; Dust thou art, to dust returnest, Was not spoken of the soul. Not enjoyment, and not sorrow, Is our destined end or way; But to act, that each tomorrow Find us farther than today. Goodbye to our greatest inspiration. I hope you are nearer to your beloved stars, you deserve the best. You will be missed by your children Christine Bostrom and Douglas Bostrom, your grandchildren Carlo Litscher, Adrian Litscher and Hayley Bostrom, your sister Edie Foedisch, and your nieces and nephews. Que descanses en paz. Te queremos. Online guestbook at www.riplingers.com
