Obituary: Magers, Robert W. “Wes”
He passed away at his home in Olympia, Washington on August 29th, 2013 at age 94.
Wes lived at Deep Creek, WA until 1930 when has family moved to Spokane, WA.
Wes attended Mason Elementary School, Libby Jr. High and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1938.
After graduation, Wes went to work for Bordens, graveling roads.
In 1941, Wes married Marion Danekas and moved to Hermiston, Oregon where Wes worked for the Hermiston Ammunition Department.
In 1943, Wes was drafted into the Navy where he served until 1945.
Upon being discharged, he worked for Gaheart Ford in Ritzville, WA.
In 1950, Wes began the career he loved the most which was farming.
He farmed in Ritzville, WA for ten years, selling the farm in 1961 and beginning a new adventure.
He bought land outside of Grand Coulee, WA and for the next ten years he and his family worked to turn sagebrush into productive alfalfa land.
Wes was predeceased by his first wife, Marion in 1986 and his second wife, May Dunton Magers in 1994.
Wes is survived by his sister, Kathryn Herndon, Spokane, WA; two sons: John (Carol Lee), Republic, WA; Mark, Cheney, WA; two grandsons: Wade (Penny), Wilbur, WA; Travis (Lacie) Deer Park, WA; three great-grandsons: Colton, Devin and Camryn.
Wes is also survived at the home in Olympia, by his best friend and companion for 20 years, Grace Bayer, her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Fred Cook, who loved an cared for them daily.
Grace’s son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Marry Ann Bayer and their three children and grandchildren.
The families wish to thank the Visiting Angels and the Providence Sound Home and Hospice for their loving care in his final days.
