Obituary: Mccluskey, Bruce Benjamin
Age 53
Bruce was born in Seattle WA August 2, 1960.
To those who knew Bruce well, he was a dear and loyal friend.
They miss him immensely, and know that he will always be alive in their memories.
Bruce was the quintessential ‘tall, dark, and handsome’ man.
He was extremely confident and a natural leader.
He had a huge personality and lit up any room he entered.
He definitely walked the walk after talking the talk.
‘Bruce definitely had swagger!’
At Lewis and Clark High School, “Cool Bru” was a star athlete.
He exemplified the grit that defined an LC Tiger during his years there.
He excelled on both sides of the ball in football; was a tenacious defender and lanky scorer in basketball; and had a sweet swing from the left-side of the plate in baseball.
He would surely agree with anyone who said he was among the best to ever wear the orange and black!
Bruce attended Washington State University, was a member of Sig Ep faternity, and left Pullman with a degree in Business.
He soon had a blossoming career in Spokane and then in Seattle as an Insurance agent.
Bruce is survived by his parents, Mike McCluskey and Joan McCluskey of Spokane; along with his older brother Mike (Deena) of Tacoma; nephews Nick of Seattle, Taylor of San Antonio; and niece Kelli at Boise State.
He loved them all and was particularly happy in his final days to learn how well his nephews and niece are doing.
Bruce is also survived by his Aunt Katy (Doug) Kjallin of Longview, WA; his cousins Steve and family of Longview, WA and Anne Crueger and family of Seattle, WA.
Bruce has a new room to entertain now, and it’s one that responds only with laughter and love.
For those of us he left behind, we will celebrate his life in a memorial on October 13th from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at Manito Golf and Country Club, Spokane, WA.
The family is grateful for the love and loyalty of Bruce’s close friends who gave him support during this trying time.
