Obituary: Wentz, Virgil Gordon

Age 83

WENTZ, Virgil Gordon (Age 82) Virgil Wentz of Spokane died at his home September 8, 2013 after a brief illness.

He was born September 23, 1930 in Marietta, Ohio to the late Samuel W. Wentz and Vernice Mary Shaw.

While serving as a Staff Sargent with the U. S. Air Force at Fairchild Air Base he met and married Nora (Hanson) Wentz of Spokane in 1952.

In 1957 they moved back to Ohio where he was employed with Kaiser Aluminum Ravenswood Plant for 32 years.

In 1992 they moved back to Spokane to enjoy their retirement.

Virgil was an active member of the Northside Church of Christ.

He and Nora delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.

He was involved in several successful business ventures during retirement, always enjoyed telling a good joke, loved country music, and traveled extensively with Nora.

Virgil is survived by his two sons and their spouses Michael and Connie Wentz of Spokane and Donald and Peg Wentz of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren Ann, Matthew, and Jennifer; great-grandchildren; sisters Olive (Norman) Bonar and Geneva Wilson; brothers, John and Jack (Margaret); stepsisters Marguerite and Evelyn as well as loving nieces, nephews and many friends.

Preceded in death by his wife Nora; brother Samuel Jr; sisters Mary Adams, Laura Gene Wynn, and Lamina Wentz.

A memorial service will be announced at a later time.
