Cougs’ Anderson ties for 2nd place

Washington State’s Michael Anderson fired a final-round 2-under-par 70 on Tuesday to tie for second place at the 15-team Kikkor Husky Invitational at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash.

Anderson completed three rounds at 5-under 211, six shots behind Cheng-Tsung Pan of host Washington.

Gonzaga’s James Fahy tied for 15th at 217. GU’s Peter Gullickson and WSU’s Sang Lee tied for 28th at 220.

Washington (17-under 847) won the team title by 18 shots. WSU (880) placed 11th and GU (892) took 12th.

Women’s golf

Eastern Washington’s Marissa Borja shot 1-over 73 during the third round to tie for 11th at the Bronco Fall Classic at Falcon Crest Golf Course in Kuna, Idaho.

Borja finished at 6-over 222, seven shots behind champion Kaci McCartan of Santa Clara.

Santa Clara, with an 11-over 875, won the team title by seven shots over host Boise State. EWU (921) placed seventh in the 10-team field.

• Idaho’s Leilanie Kim shot a final-round 4-over 76 to tie for 18th place at 15-over 231 at the Minnesota Invitational at the Minikahda Club in Minneapolis.

Jennifer Ha finished at 1-under 215 to win individual honors by seven strokes and lead Kent State (902) to the team title. Idaho (971) finished last in the 12-team field.

Men’s soccer

Alex Martinez had one goal and one assist in the first half while leading Peninsula (8-0-1) to a 5-1 nonconference win over North Idaho (4-3-1) at Port Angeles, Wash.

Women’s soccer

Heather Johnson scored twice and Karley Baggerly added her first collegiate goal as host Gonzaga (3-3-0) notched a 3-0 nonconference win over Eastern Washington (1-6-0).

Johnson had the Bulldogs’ first multigoal game since Sila Tuiofea scored twice during last year’s season opener. Johnson has four career goals.

• Shelbi Vienna-Hallam finished with two goals and one assist to lead Peninsula (3-2) to a 4-0 nonconference win over North Idaho (2-4-1) at Port Angeles, Wash.
