Obituary: Kendall, Opal M.

Age 99

KENDALL, Opal M. (Age 99) Born in Laurel, Nebraska on November 2, 1913.

She passed due to age related causes at St. Theresa’s Health care in Albuquerque, New Mexico on September 14, 2013.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharron and husband, Al Flores of Albuquerque, NM; sons, Jim and wife, Connie Kendall of Shingletown, California, Tom and wife, Jackie Kendall of Eugene, OR; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.

Opal was the daughter of Myrtle and Clifton Snyder and was one of four children.

Her brothers, Myron and Donnel and sister, Vera has since passed.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Gloria Snyder wife of Myron, she is living in Los Angeles.

After High School, Opal attended Business School and went on to get a job with the Conservation Corp as a Secretary for the person who became her husband, Frank Kendall.

They married in 1935 and spent 49 years together until Frank’s passing in 1984.

They lived in Nebraska and Iowa until the mid-1940’s then moved to Washington State.

In 1956 they moved to Sacramento, CA where Opal worked for the state until her retirement in 1971.

Then moved to the Oregon coast for several years then moved to Spokane, WA in 1974 to be closer to Opal and Frank’s family.

In June of 1993 she made her final move to Albuquerque, NM to be with her daughter, Sharron.

She always maintained a close relationship with not only her children and their spouses but all of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchild, and all of her nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.

She was known to all her family and friends for her wonderful laugh and great sense of humor.

There was for the most part of her life fresh homemade pie, cookies and coffee for all family and friends who stopped by.

You didn’t have to wait for an invitation, company was always welcome and kept coming until the end.

Opal was always active in her church.

Her family wishes to thank all her friends and St. Paul’s Methodist Church and St. Theresa’s Healthcare for their love, support and care.

As much as she loved Albuquerque, she will be going back to Spokane where she said “She has reservations on the hill” to be with her beloved husband, Frank.

There will be a Graveside Service 1PM Friday September 20, 2013 in Spokane, WA at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
