Spears announces Las Vegas residency

From Wire Reports

After months of rumors and hint-dropping, pop icon Britney Spears revealed what she called her “(not-so-) secret” news – she’s heading to Las Vegas.

The 31-year-old pop star confirmed a two-year residency at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Tuesday. “Britney: Piece of Me” will debut Dec. 27, just in time for Las Vegas’ massive New Year’s crowds. Spears announced 16 dates, but she will perform 50 shows each in 2014 and 2015.

Spears was flown to a dry lake bed in the Nevada desert for the pre-dawn announcement. About 1,300 people had been bused to the remote location in the wee hours of the morning and were waiting for her dressed in Britney Spears T-shirts or the singer’s signature schoolgirl look from her “… Baby One More Time” music video.

“I’m definitely ready,” she said in a taped interview, adding that she’s training five hours each day.

Tickets for “Britney: Piece of Me” go on sale Friday. Prices range from $59 to $179.

Moore discusses her off-camera look

Julianne Moore is known for her milky white skin and striking red hair but the actress says her “camera ready” look is much different than when she’s off the clock.

In fact, the 52-year-old tells In Style magazine that her friends tease her for wearing mostly yoga clothes when she’s not working.

She also says her 11-year-old daughter Liv recently saw a photo of her and proclaimed, “Mom, you don’t look like that!”

The actress says she explained to her daughter it was “the result of all these people working together.”

Lucas museum under consideration

A museum proposed by “Star Wars” creator George Lucas to showcase visual storytelling and house his art collection is one of three development projects being considered for a plot of park land at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge.

The Lucas museum would include the collection he has amassed over more than four decades that includes illustrations by Norman Rockwell and Maxfield Parrish. Lucas intends to finance the project himself.

The finalists for the 8-acre site facing Crissy Field in the Presidio area of San Francisco were presented Monday to the Presidio Trust, which manages the former military base that is now a national park.

The Presidio Trust has not set a deadline to select the winning proposal.
