Missing links in Liberty Lake trails finished

New sections will be celebrated Saturday

Two missing links of the Liberty Lake trail system are now complete and will be celebrated during a ceremony at Sprague Avenue and Molter Road at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The new sections of pathway are on the north side of Sprague between Liberty Lake Road and Molter Road and on Sprague east of the entrance of the Liberty Lake Golf Course. The path goes up the hill and around the corner, following Neyland Road to Sandy Beach Lane.

“It was done to complete the path work that we needed for having a loop pathway,” said Liberty Lake engineer Andrew Staples.

The project was part of a Transportation Benefit District that was formed to pay for trails around the city. “This was the last section of pathway that needed to be constructed,” Staples said. “This is the last one that we’re going to be installing.”

The ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony was originally planned for early September, but wet weather and the contractor’s schedule pushed the completion date back.
