Wed., Sept. 25, 2013, 7:42 a.m.

A morning power outage affecting about 1,400 residents in Colfax caused the cancellation of classes Wednesday.

The Colfax School District made the decision to close Wednesday morning after Avista Utilities officials told administration the outage would last into the afternoon, according to a school official. But as of 7:17 a.m., Avista reported the outage, caused by equipment problems, had been resolved.

Classes will not be held at Leonard Jennings Elementary or Colfax Junior/Senior High School on Wednesday.
