Mueller, Ezquievel team for four goals

 

Timmy Mueller scored four goals, all assisted by Roberto Ezquievel, as Post Falls (5-2-0, 2-1-0) held off visiting Coeur d’Alene 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon in Inland Empire League 5A boys soccer play.

Mueller and Ezquievel teamed for three goals during a 9-minute span of the second half.

Lane Thompson had two assists for the Vikings (5-1-1, 1-1-0).

• Moscow (4-3-0, 1-1-0) posted a 2-1 win over host Lakeland (1-8-0, 0-2-0) in IEL 4A play.

Volleyball

Meghan Rockwood had 37 assists, Kazlyn Roullier 17 kills and Natalie Ford 29 digs as host Central Valley outlasted Mead 21-25, 25-15, 28-26, 22-25, 15-13 in a nonleague matchup between two of the Greater Spokane League’s favorites. Brianna Evans had 16 kills and Payton Douglass added 27 digs and three aces for the Panthers. GSL play returns Thursday, highlighted by Mead at Mt. Spokane.

• Natalie Taylor had nine kills and Madi Farrell added five blocks as Lake City (2-1) swept host Post Falls in Inland Empire League 5A play. Kaity Widmyer added a match-high seven digs for the Timberwolves. The Trojans dropped to 0-3.

• Emily Sior had 45 assists and three aces as East Valley (3-1) outlasted host Colville 25-23, 15-25, 24-26, 25-21, 15-12 in the Great Northern League. Aubrey Buckner led the Indians (2-2) with 19 kills and four blocks. … Also in the GNL, Ashley Seiler accounted for 23 kills, three aces and three blocks as Cheney (3-0) continued to lead the league with a sweep over visiting West Valley (0-4). Kimber Case added three aces and five blocks for the Blackhawks. … Jolene Herzog’s eight kills and five aces guided Pullman (2-1) to a sweep at Deer Park. Sierra English had seven kills and 12 digs for the Stags (0-3).

• Kellogg (3-0) posted a 25-20, 25-20, 24-26, 19-25, 21-19 win at Bonners Ferry (2-2) in the Intermountain League.

Girls soccer

West Valley and East Valley continued to set the pace in the Great Northern League by recording shutouts. Halie Gronenthal scored twice to carry WV (6-1, 4-1) to a 2-0 win at Cheney (3-4, 2-2). WV’s Vanessa Gerard and Rachel McGlothlen combined for the shutout. Skylar Bastin scored late in the first half to give visiting EV (4-2, 4-1) a 1-0 win at Colville (2-4, 1-3). EV’s Kari Bromley stopped six shots for the shutout. … Also in the GNL, Maddi Cillay scored twice in the first half and Alexa Yadama added two second-half goals as Pullman (3-2, 2-2) cruised to a 6-0 win at Deer Park (1-6, 0-4).

• Luisa Graden and Lura Morton had one goal and one assist apiece as host Moscow (2-2-0, 1-1-0) rolled to a 5-0 win over Lakeland (2-5-0, 0-2-0) in Inland Empire League 4A play. Kim Sprenger, Marissa Wear and Ashley Ensburg added goals.

• Host Coeur d’Alene (1-6-1, 0-2-1) and Post Falls (4-1-1, 2-0-1) finished 0-0 in IEL 5A play.

• Host Timberlake (1-6, 1-4) recorded a 6-3 win over Priest River (3-6, 2-4) in IML play at Spirit Lake.
