Obituary: Davis, Evon Lee (Lavender)

Age 81

DAVIS, Evon Lee (Lavender) (Age 81) Of Spokane Valley, WA, passed into the arms of her loving Heavenly Father on Monday, September 16, 2013.

Evon was born on March 28, 1932, the only child of Clinton and Alice Lavender.

She graduated from West Valley High School in 1950 and attended Eastern Washington College of Education.

She met her sweetheart, Bud (Clarence) Davis, during his first military assignment to Fairchild AFB.

They were married on April 10, 1954.

Bud and Evon, along with their five children, made great memories at numerous Air Force bases across the continental US, in Hawaii, and on Guam.

Evon lovingly supported her children’s scouting, musical, and athletic endeavors, and she faithfully wrote weekly letters back home.

Evon served as chapel organist at all the military bases to which her family was stationed.

After her husband’s retirement in 1977, she was the organist at First Covenant, the church of her Swedish heritage.

Evon’s favorite pastimes were sewing, knitting, crocheting, and doing needlepoint.

Her family and friends were richly blessed by her beautifully hand-crafted creations.

Evon was recently preceded in death by Bud, her devoted husband of 58 years.

She is survived by five children, Kathy (Don) Gentili-Spokane Valley, Nancy (Ron) Fechner-Spokane, Steve (Cindy) Davis-San Diego, CA, and twins, Bonnie (Steve) Obert-Clayton, and Barbara (Tom) Keith-Lebanon, TN; eighteen grandchildren and three great-grandsons.

She is also survived by two local cousins, Clyde (Joanne) Anderson-Spokane Valley, and Carolyn (Carroll) Krupke-Reardan.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Millwood Community Presbyterian Church, 3223 North Marguerite Road, Spokane, WA.
