2013 Individual World Poetry Slam
Spokane hosts 72 of the top slam poets from around the world for this performance poetry competition. Poets perform in four rounds over two nights of preliminary competition. The top 12 poets compete in finals.
When: Wednesday through Oct. 5; preliminary bouts are 7 and 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at various locations, finals are 7-10 p.m. Saturday at The Bing Crosby Theater, 901 W. Sprague Ave.
Cost: $60 for all access pass; daytime events are free; $7 for preliminary bouts and late night events, $25 for finals
Also: Twenty-one side events, in addition to the competition, are open to the public. They include open mics, panel discussions and workshops.

Inland NW Craft Beer Festival
The festival features 30 Washington and North Idaho craft breweries pouring more than 70 different beers, including a selection of pumpkin beers. Live music and food will also be part of this celebration.
When: 4-8 p.m. today and noon-8 p.m. Saturday

Illusionist is touring the nation with a brand new, elaborate stage show. You’ll see audience members float in midair, get sawed in half and predict the future. The show also features his new Bengal tigers, Shekinah and Sheena.

Gin Blossoms
