Snow on the mountains and a new Warren Miller film on the docket

Warren Miller’s “Ticket to Ride” will show at the Bing on Oct. 25.

The folks who run the Lookout Pass Facebook page on Wednesday posted a photo telling us all we need to know: Winter is on its way.

The picture showed trees and foliage coated with more than a dusting of snow. The second sign of winter appeared in the email inbox a few hours later – word that the latest Warren Miller ski epic, “Ticket to Ride,” will be playing at the Bing Crosby Theater on Oct. 25.

The film, the 64th ski and snowboard film to bear the name “Warren Miller,” includes world champion and Olympic skiers Seth Wescott, Ted Ligety and Julia Mancuso, and freeskiers Colby West and Sean Pettit. Locations include Alaska and Montana, Iceland and Greenland, Kazakhstan and Switzerland.

Tickets are $20 each, available through TicketsWest, (800) 325- SEAT or www.tickets west.com, the Bing box office, 901 W. Sprague Ave., and REI, 1125 N. Monroe St.

Those attending are entered into drawings to win ski vacations and other goodies, and will receive discount vouchers for Mt. Spokane Ski & Snowboard Park, Red Mountain Resort, Big White Ski Resort, Silver Star Mountain Resort, Sun Peaks Resort and Whitefish Mountain Resort.
