Zwerger suspended

Spokane Chiefs forward Dominic Zwerger has received a two-game suspension from the WHL after being assessed a checking-to-the-head penalty during Tuesday’s 6-2 victory at Victoria. Zwerger was given a game misconduct for the hit that occurred 17:23 into the third period. The 17-year-old from Austria served the first game of his ban Wednesday in a game the Chiefs won 6-1 at Victoria. Zwerger’s suspension will expire following Saturday’s home opener against Tri-City. The game, along with eight more Saturday matchups between the Chiefs and the Americans, will be broadcast on SWX. Spokane sits at 3-0-0-0 after three games.
