Eagles at Bearkats

Overview: Last season isn’t quite over for the Eagles, who’ve practiced all week with the scoreboard flashing last year’s 45-42 FCS semifinal loss to the Bearkats. This year’s game may be just as high-scoring.
Eastern QB Vernon Adams has enjoyed a stellar year so far (62 for 92 for 1,035 yards, 12 TDs and 3 INTs), but struggled in his last outing at Toledo. Sam Houston returns all the key players who dominated the first half of last year’s game, including RB Timothy Flanders (62 rushes, 486 yards and 10 TDs this year), senior QB Brian Bell (39 of 66, 633 yards, 10 TDs, 4 INTs).
The Bearkats have won 17 straight games at home.

Owls at Vandals
Kickoff: 2 p.m.; Kibbie Dome, Moscow, Idaho
Records: Temple 0-3; Idaho 0-4

Overview: Aside from the obvious differences between these two schools – Temple’s campus is in urban Philadelphia; Idaho’s campus is in the rural Palouse – their programs are in similar positions. The Owls and Vandals both have coaches and starting quarterbacks who are in their first year.
Next week Idaho takes on 25th-ranked Fresno State before traveling to Arkansas State and 21st-ranked Mississippi. So today’s homecoming game represents perhaps the Vandals’ most winnable matchup in the first two months of the season. Temple, coming off a bye, hung with Notre Dame in the first half before falling 28-6 to open the season and has since lost to Houston and Fordham.

Wildcats at Huskies

Records: Arizona 3-0, Washington 3-0

Overview: Both teams are seeking 4-0 starts for the first time in a while in the Pac-12 opener for both schools. The Huskies were last 4-0 in 2001, while the Wildcats haven’t won their first four since 2010 when they won seven of eight to start the year before losing their last five. Washington is No. 3 in the country in total offense, averaging 629 yards per game. The Huskies are balanced with 303.7 yards rushing and 325.3 passing. None of last eight games in Seattle between these teams has been decided by more than 11 points.

Pirates at Panthers

Overview: The Pirates are coming off a bitter 25-20 defeat to La Verne after quarterback Bryan Peterson’s pass skipped off Devon Lind’s hands in the end zone as time expired. Chapman had a bye after handling Pacific (Ore.) 57-14 on Sept. 14.
The Pirates are led by Peterson, a junior, who tied his career high last week with 354 passing yards against La Verne, completing 20 of 38. Drew Clausen caught eight passes for 172 yards against La Verne. Senior running back D.J. Tripoli has gained 261 yards on the ground.
