Spokane Valley man remains missing after leaving for trip a month ago

Donald Bucknell
From staff reports
A Spokane Valley man last seen a month ago remains missing after family said he went on a camping trip and never returned. Donald Bucknell, 49, was last seen Aug. 28. Bucknell typically goes camping in the Colville National Forest area with friends, but went alone on this trip, said his sister-in-law, Becca Bucknell. Family and friends don’t know where he was planning on traveling. Donald Bucknell asked a neighbor to pick up his mail and said he’d return Sept. 3. The neighbor notified the family on Sept. 8 that Bucknell had not returned. Becca Bucknell said the last time his phone was used was the day he was last seen. The last transaction on any of his credit cards was Aug. 26. She added that her brother-in-law suffers from chronic pain and that it’s difficult for him to move around on his own. Donald Bucknell, who goes by Don, is white, 6-foot-1 and about 275 pounds. He has short brown hair, a beard and wears glasses. He was last seen driving a 1984 white Toyota pickup truck, license plate number B00668L. A neighbor told his family he had camping gear with him when he left. Anyone with information about Bucknell’s location is asked to call the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office at (509) 625-4041, the Washington State Patrol Missing Persons Unit at (800) 543-5678, or the National Center for Missing Adults at (800) 690-3463.
