Hauger second at Mt. West

A week after finishing second at the Erik Anderson Runner’s Soul Invite, Shadle Park junior Nicholas Hauger was runner-up again Saturday at the Mountain West Classic cross country meet in Missoula, Mont. Hauger completed the 3-mile course in 15 minutes, 7.95 seconds. Helena’s Aidan Reed won in 15:06.38.

The University boys took third place out of 59 teams. Lewis and Clark was fifth, Mead was seventh and Lake City was eighth. West Valley’s McCall Skay led the area girls. Skay finished third in 17:46.97. The Coeur d’Alene girls took second and Gonzaga Prep was seventh.

Football

Craig Nelson ran for 170 yards and scored five touchdowns – four rushing and one receiving – to guide Rosalia to a 74-0 nonleague rout of Oakville at Roos Field in Cheney.

Boys soccer

Jack Barrett scored twice in the first half to power Lake City past Lewiston 5-0 in an Inland Empire League 5A match in Coeur d’Alene.

• Griffin Doubrava led Bonners Ferry’s offensive attack with two first-half goals and the Badgers routed Priest River 9-2 in Intermountain League play in Bonners Ferry.

Girls soccer

Alissa Jolliff’s seventh-minute goal was the difference in Lake City’s 1-0 win over host Lewiston in an IEL 5A match.

• Avery Summers scored a goal in each half to lead Priest River to a 2-0 IML win over host Bonners Ferry.
