Obituary: Cooley, Dolores “Dolly” Jane Malama

Age 76

COOLEY, Dolores “Dolly” Jane Malama (Age 76) Passed away September 22, 2013 at her home in Spokane, WA.

Dolly was born February 14, 1937 in Harrisburg, PA and spent much of her youth in Rhode Island.

Her later years were spent in Bremerton, WA.

She graduated from South Kitsap High School with honors as well as Tacoma General Hospital School of Nursing.

She was a practicing registered nurse at several hospitals and spent the last 30 years at Holy Family Hospital where she retired.

Dolly was considered to be an excellent nurse and a favorite of her patients, doctors and co-workers.

She was generous with her time and was always willing to help others.

Later in life she went to Spokane Falls Community College to learn sign language and was an interpreter for the hard of hearing for college students and patients at Holy Family.

Dolly was extremely passionate about cooking, scrapbooking and knitting.

She was always in search of knowledge and learned to play the piano in her later years.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, William A. Cooley; two sons, Michael A. Cooley of Spokane, WA.

and William T. Cooley of Mill Creek, WA; granddaughter Emma Cooley; sister Constance Boustead of Seabeck, WA; brother John Asplund of Post Falls, ID and numerous nephews, nieces and friends.

Dolly was preceded in death by her mother Rose Malama Asplund and Arthur Asplund.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 4, 2013 at Shadle Park Presbyterian Church, 5508 N. Alberta St, Spokane, WA 99205.
