Owl’s Brew tea infusions mix wisdom with pleasure

Owl’s Summer Sangria is made with Owl’s Brew Pink & Black, white wine and muddled berries.

Handcrafted tea cocktails are on the menu for First Friday.

Owl’s Brew, a collection of teas brewed specifically for cocktail making, will be served during downtown Spokane’s monthly arts event from 5 to 8 p.m. at Red Rolling Pin, a design and home furnishing business at 159 S. Lincoln St.

The new, ready-to-pour, artisanal mixer comes in three flavors: Coco-Lada, Pink & Black and The Classic. Coco-Lada is sweet and spicy, with a hint of coconut. Pink & Black is a hibiscus-scented Darjeeling. The Classic is an English breakfast with a tart twist.

Owl’s Brew is brewed in Vermont in micro-batches from whole tea leaves and spices.

There are no artificial flavors or additives; the tea is made from purified water and sweetened with agave.

Tea experts Jennie Ripps and Maria Littlefield created Owl’s Brew for a better, or “wise” – as in wise old owl – brew.

The low-calorie, antioxidant-enriched product debuted last summer.

It’s blended particularly to pair with spirits like whiskey, vodka, rum, Champagne and even beer and wine. The idea is to mix two parts Owl’s Brew with one part booze and sip away.

The 32-ounce bottles make about 16 cocktails and retail for $16.99 at Red Rolling Pin or $15.99 on the Owl’s Brew website.
