Spokane Symphony
In “Celebrating Strauss – The Beginning and The End,” the Spokane Symphony honors one of the great German composers, Richard Strauss, with works from the beginning and end of his career, as well as “Also Sprach Zarathustra,” a tone poem composed early in his career and used by Stanley Kubrick in “2001: A Space Odyssey.” His “Four Last Songs,” a farewell to a golden era, will be sung by acclaimed soprano Amber Wagner. Northwest Guitar Festival 2014
Annual event, now in its 23rd year, runs through Sunday in various locations.

Fort George Wright Drive: 7:30 p.m., Mak Grgic, 26-year-old virtuoso who recently took first prize at the guitar competition Luigi Mozzani in Italy.
