Regina was born in Creston, Iowa on December 10, 1942 to Floyd and Grace (Cupp) VanPelt.
She gradu- ated from Corning High School in 1961 and married Larry Kimpson on September 24, 1961.
They had two sons, Jeff and Greg.
In 1968 the family relocated to Spokane Valley, WA.
Regina and Larry later divorced in 1971.
Regina was a dedicated mother, and after divorcing, entered the work force to raise her two sons.
She held several jobs in her life in the fields of bookkeeping and accounting, but spent the majority of her career at Spokane Teachers Credit Union where she retired in 2005 after 29 years of service.
After retiring Regina became a volunteer at Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Services.
(SCRAPS) On most Mondays and Saturdays, Regina was the first face you saw if you visited SCRAPS.
Being a dedicated Gonzaga Basketball fan, Regina was glued to the TV during televised games, but more than anything Regina loved animals, especially her dog Mattie.
She touched many lives and was a dear friend to many.
She will be remembered for her kind spirit and generous heart.
She loved helping others and gave generously of her time.
What she considered one of her greatest accomplishments in life was raising her two sons.
Regina was a selfless giver and would often forego things herself to provide for others.
Family was very important to Regina and she attended numerous family reunions throughout the country.
She was the “glue” keeping relatives in touch with one another and was always ready to talk to you to catch up with your life and family.
Left to cherish her memory are two sons: Jeffery (Denise) Kimpson of Boise Idaho, and Gregory (Rebecca) Kimpson of Mendon, UT; five grandchildren; her sister Shirley Kimpson of Creston Iowa and numerous family and friends.
Preceding Regina in death were her parents Floyd and Grace Van Pelt and an infant brother, Donald.
Regina will be missed by all, but she will live on in our hearts forever.
In lieu of cards and flowers please consider a donation in her name to SCRAPS at 2521 N. Flora Rd, Spokane Valley, WA 99216.
