15th Annual Premier Home Improvement Show Friday through Sunday. More than 200 vendors showcasing the latest in home remodeling and improvement. Friday, noon-7 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Specials: Friday is 2-for-1 admission day, courtesy of Dishman Dodge. SCC Spring Flower and Garden Show Fourth annual event is themed “Through the Looking Glass” with larger-than-life “Alice in Wonderland” floral exhibits. The show also features a European-style fresh flower market and will have bedding and house plants, herbs, yard art and unique arts and crafts for sale. Children’s activities also are planned. Rockford Frog Regatta Festival The annual event includes free hot dogs and free games for kids of all ages, plus a frog regatta in Rock Creek. Benefits the Rockford Lions Club in support of youth and community activities. Frogs can be purchased for $5 at the event or in advance at FredNecks Saloon, Harvest Moon Restaurant, Banner Bank in Rockford, Bank of Fairfield in Rockford or On Sacred Ground Coffee Shop in Valleyford. Dishman Hills Buttercup Hike This hike will be led by Michael Hamilton, former DHC President, retired geologist and resident naturalist. This long-held Dishman Hills tradition is not only a chance to look for the year’s first color, but to learn about the history and importance of this land. Saturday, 1 p.m., Camp Caro, 625 S. Jack Nisbet: David Douglas’s Nine Lives David Douglas was a Scottish naturalist who did much of his best work in the Pacific Northwest, where his contacts with local fur traders and tribal families resulted in key information about our native landscape. This slide presentation will be presented by Jack Nisbet, author of “David Douglas: a naturalist at work: an illustrated exploration across two centuries in the Pacific Northwest.” Monday, 6 p.m., South Hill Library, 3324 S. “The Power of Art in the Egyptian Revolution” The work of Egyptian artist Mohammed Abla has mirrored the tumultuous transition following the Arab Spring revolution.
