Obituary: Williams, Tena Carol

WILLIAMS, Tena Carol (Age 45) Passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at her home in Spokane Valley, WA surrounded by her loving family.

She was born November 7, 1968 at Moscow, ID.

Tena was raised in Moscow by her parents, David and Janis (Leef) Williams.

She attended Fort Russell Grade School, Moscow Junior High School, and graduated from Moscow High School in 1987.

Tena later attended Yakima Valley Community College and earned an Associate degree, then attended Central Washington University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.

Tena later attended Whitworth College in Spokane, earning a Master’s degree in education.

Tena was a homemaker for 10 years while raising her children; and had also worked as a Juvenile Parole Officer in Yakima and Spokane, WA.

Tena worked at Epic House in Yakima as a social worker/ supervisor at this Juvenile Group Home.

Tena had received an appointment by President Bill Clinton for grant work done in the Yakima Valley.

In 2013, Tena moved to Spring Creek, Nevada where she taught school for several months.

While living there, she was being treated at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, UT.

She moved back to Spokane Valley in April of 2014.

Survivors include her two children, Dalton and Chantel Williams, both of Spokane Valley, her parents, Janis and Michael Morigeau of Spokane Valley; her brother, Eric and Christina Williams of Spring Creek, NV; her grandmother, Medine Leef of Harvard, Idaho; her uncle, Chuck Leef of Princeton, Idaho, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Graveside Services will be held Monday, April 14, 2014 at 1 PM at the Mendenhall Cemetery near Potlatch, ID.

Pastor Kathy Lee Kramer will officiate at the service.

Memorial gifts may be given to the Huntsman Cancer Institute, 2000 Circle of Hope, Salt Lake City, UT, 84112, for Gardner’s Syndrome research.
